Carrots or Kingdom?

What to do? Where to go? Who can stay? Who can go? What to eat (physically and spiritually)? What to spend money on and when to spend it? Every single day we are faced with decisions. What we decide can either greatly improve our lives or push us further away from where God intends us to be. I realized a long time ago that just as much as God wants to gift us with the Kingdom, the enemy wants to “gift” us with carrots that dangle from our worldly desires.

Whenever we are in a season of shifting, sifting, stretching and striding, there’s the opportunity to be vulnerable. Vulnerability is a beautiful thing. The Lord can use you in a vulnerable state but guess what? The enemy can too! Have you ever decided to make a major life move that will cause you to be uncomfortable for a while and right before you make that move... BOOM! Options out the woodworks? Things you’ve been praying for like partnership, more money or whatever. Then you start to think... oh, well this is what I’ve been wanting so I should just choose this shiny thing. It isn’t GREAT but it’s GOOD ENOUGH.

The thing about those "carrots" are, they don’t compare to the Kingdom living that God has in store for you. That partnership may lead you further away from the feet of Jesus. It may look nice and it may translate well on the gram BUT God had someone amazing on the other side of patience if you followed the obedient road. That money they offered will spend well but God had a million stored up for you to bless you and others but you took 850k with nothing of real substance attached to it.

I had a thought the other day. Healthcare officials say that carrots improve your vision. It’s funny to me that when we choose "dangled carrots" we actually lose sight of our purpose and what God actually desires for our lives. The one thing I know for certain is, God wants an AMAZING life for us all. He will NEVER half bless us. So if something looks shiny but doesn’t feel right in your gut or you feel yourself compromising spiritually.. Issa carrot. Yep. Big and orange, pumped with pesticides and sprouted from your own personal fertilizer called.. idolatry. The great thing about the God we serve is, even when we choose carrots, He will make a way to put us back on the Kingdom course. Plus, He restores our wasted time! He wants us to win that much! Isn’t that incredible???? Wowza! So, As you are faced with decisions today, tomorrow, next week or next year be in tune with what feels like Kingdom discomfort and what feels like carrot discomfort. Both roads will lead you to a destination but only one will lead you your purposed life. Alright, that’s all I got. Remember, God speaks real LOUD. Sometimes we just be listening low.
