The Most Attractive Thing A Man Can Do

Many, many, years ago I was sitting in a studio in Atlanta working with an amazing female artist. At the time she was a few years into dating her boyfriend, now turned husband. She looked at me and said "you know what Chas? He is a really great man and he does this really attractive thing that is a turn on and makes me feel safe. He prays and he prays for me". At the time, I wasn't really walking with Christ. My relationship with Christ was less like walking and more like taking an Uber ride. I would call on the Lord to get me to my destination but if the price was too high (meaning, I'd actually have to change my ways) I'd be like, nah.. I'll wait until the price isn't surging. How ignorant right? I had heard what she said about her boyfriend but I didn't truly understand the weight of her statement until I matured in my thoughts years down the line. I can firmly agree now because i've developed a real relationship with Christ so I know that praying for someone is the most beautiful gift you can give. It's selfless. Even when I have a conversations with my close girlfriends and they talk about their bad dates it generally starts with "girrrrl, he didn't even bless the food." Then we all yell "nooooo" in unison and that guy is never heard of again. I started the think deeper about this concept. Why is it so appealing to see a man pray? and I came up with this conclusion: It's the act of surrendering. Seeing men surrender themselves to God is respectable. It's even more incredible because you know that they chose to love God on their own. No one can force you to pray. No one can make you love God. You gotta do that on your own. Surrendering is attractive. I think its because we see people surrendering themselves to the rat race of the world so often that when they are on their knees in prayer it's a nice change and it's just beautiful. That's why there's never a dry eye at church when men decide to give there life to Christ because lets be honest, men don't even like to ask for directions so its major when they get up from the pew and come to the alter. My guy friends are always trying to find the right cologne or the right place to take a female for dinner but the truth is, no amount of Tom Ford "smell good" is more attractive than prayer. Pray for her in your alone time. Grab her hand and pray together for other people. It's crazy but two weeks ago when my phone was stolen out of my car, my anxiety increased. I called one of my best guy friends and he offered up his couch for me to sleep on if I felt unsafe then he prayed a for a hedge of protection over me. I felt loved just off of that alone. The majority of my other guy friends were like "daaang homie. That sucks. You good?" Don't get me wrong, it is kind to ask if someone is okay but its incredible when someone goes to the ultimate source as asks for healing on your behalf. Thats real. That's love. So yeah, with V day just around the corner i'm going to give the fellas a little tip. As you lean over your overpriced crab dip at the fancy dinner you take her to, maybe bless the food because women like that.
