weeeeeee oooooohhh weeeeeee oooooooh weeeeee this is the name police and i'm officially handing out citations to parents that name their children items, trends, or anything silly... Why are ya'll out here doing these babies like this? Believe me, I love a artsy name BUT as of late people are clearly going straight to the shade room comments for ideas.Bring back the days of people flipping through baby name books. I'll gladly take a Victoria or a Tommy in comparison to what people are doing now. I feel like by 2023 kindergarten classrooms are going to be filled with students named KekeDOyouLoveME Smith, BakingSoda Glover and Orange madd hatter Franklin. I know that people with children are going to tell me to shut up but I don't care... FIGHT ME!! lol! Honestly, theres a lot to a name. I once worked with a girl named Vanity. I assumed it was because her mother was a Prince fan. I eventually asked her what the story was behind her name and she rolled her eyes, flipped her hair and told me it was because her mother claimed that she was sick and ugly the entire time she was pregnant with her so she assumed that once she was born she was going to be a fickle infant and a vain teenager. I thought, okaaaay, let me find some shirts to fold as I nervously backed away in discomfort. Although I only knew Vanity for a short time, her story will forever stick out like a sore thumb when I see kids with over the top names. There is beauty in a well thought out, artsy name. For example, I love what Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin named their child- Apple. Cute right? I think it's adorable. My sisters friend named her daughter Phoenix and I thought that was such an adorable name for such an adorable little girl. My point is, you gotta do this artsy, cool name thing correctly. It has to be funky enough to spark interest and raise eyebrows but not so left field that if HR sees their resume come across their desk they would immediately toss it in the trash. Name accordingly. Set that baby up for success in all areas! lol.
Lastly, I absolutely love Cardi B and I generally don't address pop culture at all but the fact that she named her newborn Kulture was the last straw in my "I hate what celebs name their children" hat. I mean, first of all.. When you go to the gynocologist they collect a culture sample...Yeah.. There is no second of all. What do you all think? Have people taken the cool name game too far??
